Non-Resident Hunters

March 15th is the deadline for

Non-Resident tag applications!!

Montana offers non-residence three (3) hunting packages.
  • Deer Combination-Allows a hunter to harvest a legal deer only
  • Elk Combination-Allows a hunter to harvest a legal elk only
  • Big Game Combination-Allows a hunter to harvest both a legal deer and elk
Most of my hunters opt for the big game combo allowing for better opportunities for harvest.  These combinations above include a conservation permit, annual state fishing license, and upland bird permit. Clients hunting my ranches will be hunting in Deer and Elk Districts 315 and 393. (No additional special drawings are required to hunt these districts.)
Clients wishing to hunt antelope should contact me at 406-686-4761 for application advice, booking, and hunt pricing.  Antelope tag application deadline is June 1.
Note:  I am encouraging my nonresident clients wanting to hunt with me during the 2019 hunting season to purchase two (2) preference points.  You will need to purchase one preference point between July 1 and September 30, 2018 and the other at the time of your application for your 2019 non resident combination license.  At present if you apply with two (2) preference points you are certain to be drawn for the nonresident license you requested.  For those who hunted with me in 2018 and want to return in 2019 you can only purchase one (1) preference point at the time you apply in 2019,  You still have a good chance to be drawn over someone who applied with zero preference points.  Preference points are an excellent way to ensure you get the nonresident license in the year you want to hunt in Montana.  Nonresident clients with one preference point may have better success by applying for an Elk Combination Tag instead of the Big Game Combination Tag.  You won't be able to hunt deer but will have better odds to draw an Elk tag.
Do not confuse these points with the Bonus Points System.
If you have any questions about Preference Points contact Mike at 406-686-4761.
Preference Point for Nonresident Combination Licenses

The Montana State Legislature established a preference point system to distribute "Class B-10" nonresident big game and elk combination licenses and "Class B-11" nonresident deer combination licenses. In a preference point system, licenses are awarded to those applicants who hold the greatest number of preference points.

Purchasing Preference Points

Preference points for a nonresident big game, elk or deer combination license may be purchased for a nonrefundable fee of $50. Preference points can be purchased:
  • at the time of application for the nonresident combination license; or
  • between July 1 and September 30 for individuals who did not apply for a nonresident combination license.

Applicants may purchase only one preference point per license year. Preference points purchased at the time of application are awarded prior to the drawing.
